About the Blue Lacy (aka: Lacy Dog)

Outlaw Kennels was born from a need for a solid tracking dog and our immediate love of the beauty, athleticism, and intelligence of the Lacy breed. We are committed to producing strong, healthy, trainable dogs to go to homes where they will be properly cared and provided with the working opportunities they thrive on. We have specially selected dogs from lines that are well bred and from proven working parents. Each of our animals has been started young on numerous mock deer tracks then advanced to live tracks once hunting season arrives.

Our Lacys are double registered with both the Lacy Dog Breeders Association and the National Lacy Dog Registry. They are all proven trackers, but they are also part of our family and have been very well socialized since they were tiny! They are all family friendly but are working dogs and are each onsite if you would like to view them.

About the Blue Lacy (aka: Lacy Dog)

The Lacy Dog is a bold, athletic, and fiercely intelligent working dog that originated in Texas in the mid 1800’s. The Lacy brothers originally created this breed to combat a rising feral hog problem for local ranchers. They combined the speed, agility, nose, and intelligence found in the Greyhound, Scent hound, and Coyote. The resulting animal could be used for hogging, trapping, hunting, tracking, and herding. All Lacys carry the blue gene, but they can also be found in red and tri-colored. In 2005, the Blue Lacy was named the Texas State Dog!

According to the Texas State Legislature, “Blue Lacy were a common fixture on ranches in the Southwest, where it was said that one such dog could do the work of five cowboys; intelligent, energetic, fast, eager to work, and easy to train and handle, Lacy herded cattle, hogs, and chickens, and also served as droving and hunting dogs.”
